Creflo Dollar: Knowing Your Identity

Knowing Your Identity - Creflo Dollar - Creflo Dollar Ministriesby: Creflo Dollar

Do you know who you are? I’m not talking about who you are because of your parents, your background, or your upbringing, but I mean, do you really know who you are in Christ? Most people know who they are in the natural realm as it relates to their family and upbringing, but when it comes to their true identity in Christ and what that entails, they don’t have a clue.

Often, people have a hard time identifying with God because they relate to their physical, natural identities and the things they can perceive with their senses more than they do with Him. God made us in His image, and when we accept Jesus as our Lord and personal Savior, we become one with Him. This means that, from a spiritual perspective, we are just like Him! Knowing who we are in Christ is the catalyst for walking in the power of God and demonstrating that power to the world.

Because the knowledge of who we are in Christ is so vital to our confidence as sons of God, it is the area in which Satan will consistently attack us. In fact, he attacked Jesus in the area of identity when He was fasting in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights. Matthew 4:1-3 says, “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.”

When Satan tried to question Jesus’ identity in the wilderness, Jesus responded with the Word of God. He didn’t have to prove anything because He knew who He was! That is the same way we should respond to the devil when He comes to attack our identity in Christ. We should always remind Him of what God has said about us and about him. Jesus replied, “It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God” (v. 7). When Satan realized that Jesus was not moved by His attack, and that He knew who He was, the Bible says he left Him alone.

Jesus wasn’t the first one Satan attacked in the area of identity. In the Garden of Eden, he also attacked Adam and Eve. He made a statement that suggested to them that they weren’t who God had made them to be. In Genesis 3:1-5, Satan deceived Eve into thinking that she wasn’t like God, which was the opposite of the truth. God had created Adam and Eve in His image, which meant that they already were like Him. They allowed the voice of the enemy to get them to doubt who they really were. As a result, they took the bait and fell into his trap.

By constantly looking into the mirror of God’s Word, we are able to maintain a consistent consciousness of our identity in Christ. The Word will tell us exactly who we are, what we look like from God’s perspective, and how we are to act as sons of God. It will also reveal to us any areas of our lives that may not line up with God’s Word.

God is a spiritual being, and He has made us in His image. When we become born again, we carry the very nature of God on the inside of us, which makes us little “gods” or smaller extensions of Himself (Psalm 82:1-8, AMP). Therefore, we should identify with the identity that God has given us. Philippians 2:5-9 shows us the attitude we should have as Believers:

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Even though we possess the power of God on the inside of us, if we don’t embrace the same mind-set that Jesus had about His identity, for our own lives, we will never be confident enough to walk in that identity. From now on, begin to see yourself as Jesus saw Himself—a spiritual being who possessed the same ability as His Father. Renew your mind to who you really are and declare it every day. You will send the devil running in the opposite direction!

Creflo Dollar: Mighty In God’s Love

Mighty In God's Love - Creflo Dollar - Creflo Dollar Ministriesby: Creflo Dollar

Everyone experiences rough times in life. But having trials doesn’t mean that you’ve missed God. On the contrary, your trials are often a sign that you’re on the path to your destiny. When breakthrough is near, trouble often appears to sidetrack or distract you to keep you from receiving what is waiting for you. Although your trials may be difficult, you must realize that you already have everything you need to triumph over them. You’ve been equipped by God with a measure of might, and that is what will help you successfully overcome anything that sets itself against you.

What exactly is “might”? Might is “the power, authority or resources wielded.” It is your God-given ability to do whatever is necessary to accomplish a particular task. In the Bible, David used might to kill the giant, Goliath (1 Samuel 17). Likewise, Daniel used his might to tap into God’s wisdom to read the handwriting on the wall (Daniel 5:13-29). If you want to operate in this same kind of might, you must first recognize its source: the Word of God.

Ephesians 6:10-18 describes the various weapons available to help you win any battle. These weapons—the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit—all work together to enable you to stand against any opponent. When you firmly establish God’s Word in your heart, you are suiting up for battle and arming yourself with God’s weapons. And this is how you turn on the power of might.

First John 5:4 says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world….” When you become born again and allow the Word of God to take root on the inside of you, your victory in every battle is assured; you can overcome the world. That’s why in the face of every battle, you must believe that your victory is already at hand.

It is not enough just to know the Word, however. You must also know God’s heart behind the Word in order to activate the power of might in your life. The Bible is a written expression of God’s love, and it contains the truth about His character. When you know God’s character, you know His heart. And it’s knowing God’s heart—His true intentions and His will for you—that gives you confidence in Him and turns on might.

In every situation that you face, think to yourself, What do I know about God’s character? The first thing you know from God’s Word is that He loves you unconditionally and wants you to triumph in your battles (2 Corinthians 2:14). Next, you know that you have been commanded to love God with all of your heart, mind and soul (Matthew 22:37). Since God requires this kind of love from you, He is faithful to love you in the same way. Because He loves you, He will protect you and bring manifestation into your life. Walking confidently in the knowledge of God’s love keeps you walking in the power of might.

Might is a direct result of your revelation of God’s love. So if your doctor gives you a bad report or your harvest hasn’t yet come in, think about how much God loves you and wants the best for you. Keep a positive attitude, and don’t let doubt enter your mind. Anytime you question God’s ability or willingness to intercede on your behalf in any situation, you doubt His love for you and you hinder might from operating in your life.

Battles are real, but victories are even more real to the Believer. Even in the midst of your trials, position yourself right where God wants you to be—in the center of His love. Believe in His love and walk in the power of might today!

Creflo Dollar: Conquering Lack

Conquering Lack - Creflo Dollar - Creflo Dollar Ministriesby: Creflo Dollar

Did you know that you have the ability to overcome every negative situation that you face? Battles are a part of life, and you must be equipped by God with might in order to win them. The act of winning the battle is called conquest. It is the act of conquering, and is yours by faith. As a Believer, you have been made a conqueror through Jesus, and you can trust that He will enable you to get the victory.

The Word of God declares that you are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:37). Being more than a conqueror means that the victory God wants to give you will far exceed your expectations. The challenge that most Christians have is resisting the temptation to try and do things in their own abilities. They forget that it is through Him that they are able to conquer debt, lack and financial hardship.

One of the many challenging battles that people face is in the area of their finances. When the bills are piling up and creditors are calling your house nonstop, it can be difficult to feel as if you have the power to overcome lack. However, how you feel has nothing to do with what God can do. By tapping into His supernatural power, you can be victorious over what appears to be a lack of financial provision.

Though your situation may seem impossible, you have the assurance of knowing that nothing is too hard for God. When you realize that you have the ability to consistently win battles, you won’t tolerate living from paycheck to paycheck and going in debt to have your needs met. Take authority over lack in the name of Jesus and ask God to give you wisdom and strategies to use.

I really enjoy communicating to people the practical side of God’s Word. Many times, particularly where finances are concerned, Christians are quick to work on the spiritual aspects of their breakthroughs such as prayer, making faith confessions from the Word and giving tithes and offerings, but they fail to do the natural part. Doing one without the other won’t get you anywhere.

In looking at your financial profile, it is important to determine where you need to make adjustments in your financial decisions. When you are responsible with what God has already given you, He will empower you to have more. For example, spending beyond your means is not going to help you overcome debt and lack but will only lead you further into a financial hole. Using credit cards all the time and buying things that you know you can’t afford are all factors in the poverty equation. If you continue being irresponsible with your money, you will continue to lack the finances you need to bless others and take care of yourself. However, by doing your part in the natural, along with the spiritual aspect from the Word, you will never run out. In fact, God will increase you at every turn.

Conquerors are made by God. When His supernatural ability gets on you, you can conquer anything. First Samuel 16:13 says, “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him [David] in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward…” Just as David was, you are anointed to be victorious over lack. Don’t let the devil bog you down with what looks like an impossible situation. Receive the ability to overcome. God will bring you out every time.
